It's FaMEALY Day 2012!

They say that, "Family is the basic unit of the society." We first learn essential things in life at home. Our values, characters, attitude and beliefs can be determined by our upbringing. How our parents and guardians raised us has a huge factor on our personality.

For so many years, i have lived my life with my family. We've had  breakfast morning after morning, shared countless delicious dinners at the same table. We've grown up together side by side keeping each other's company through thick and thin. Every meals we've shared, we've experienced bottomless happiness my mama and papa helped us realize and nurture our dreams.

This year, Filipinos will be celebrating FAMEALY DAY on September 24, 2012, as it is proclaimed that every 4th Monday of September there is a nationwide call to celebrate family dining.

Through the efforts of one of the leading brand of noodles (Lucky Me) in the Philippines, families are encouraged to eat dinner together. They also promotes the importance of having a conversation during meal time to teach good values to their children. This is a perfect way to bring families closer together.

In my twenty six years here on earth, day after day passes, I wonder what I should be thankful about, Upon looking back, the answer comes simply and clearly. I realized the most important discovery about myself that is, God loves me and he gave me the greatest gift, "my life." There is a purpose why He created me. I am so blessed by God, I have my family who's always there to guide and support me. They light up my way and lead me to the right path. They inspire me in everything I do in every step of the way. They are my real treasure.

It made me realized that "Kainang Pangpamilya ay mahalaga" (Eating with your family is really important). So make sure that you'll come home early on September 24!

Enjoy this year's FaMEALY Day Foodaholics! :)

SINGLElicious V-Date!

It’s February! Love is in the air.

Happy couples are dating right here and there. Guys are showering their girls with flowers and chocolates. You’ll see sweet lovebirds cuddling around the corner.

What a lovely way to celebrate love and happiness for those who are in a relationship. But for a single lady just like me, there’s nothing really special about this moment. Yes, it’s good to see happy couples everywhere but Valentine’s Day marks the day of our being loveless.

Well there’s nothing new about me being single. I’ve been a damsel in distress for so long. Okay, let’s just say I’m a certified NBSB (No Boyfriend Since Birth). So what?! It’s a personal choice. Many Valentine’s Day had passed and I’ve learned not to dwell on unhappy thoughts of not having a special someone as my date.

For all I know, love comes in different forms and love month is not just for lovers and couples. Single girls can still enjoy Heart’s Day with their friends and families.

There’s no need to search for places to go and things to do this Valentine; as this season can be enjoyed even at home. You can gather your dearest friends together; you may transform your living room, squeeze in an extra chairs and tables and enjoy some casual dining in the perfect setting.

You can create an ideal atmosphere with your favorite friends.

Add an intimate theme and prepare your favorite selection of foods like pizza and pasta.

Also, you can set up your home theater for a romantic movie experience that your friends will all love.

With friends around you will never be alone this Valentine. This is a perfect SINGLElicious Valentine’s date idea.

Hazel's Birthday Dinner Celebration @ Lipa Grill

I super love birthdays! 'Coz it reminds us to treasure the time we have been given. Everyday is an opportunity to learn and positively touch lives.

Last time, my cousin Hazel--one of my angels celebrated her birthday. We had a dinner at Lipa Grill, a local restaurant in Antipolo del Norte, Lipa City which offers variety of Filipino delicacies.

They have a huge nipa huts to accommodate their guest. If your looking for a serene place for dinner, Lipa Grill is one of the best places in Lipa City, Batangas.

Aside from my family and set friends, my cousins are my super buddies ever. We shared lots of great things together. As much as possible we make sure that we still have time to bond. Sharing stories, dramas or just laugh our hearts out. It's really fun to be with my angels. And during special moments like this, we love to make surprises for each other.

Because it's Hazel's birthday... this dinner celebration is her treat! LOL! We gave her an Almond Java Moose Petite cake from Goldilocks Bakeshop.

Lipa Grill satisfied our hunger with their mouthwatering dishes. We ordered the following:

We all love Sinigang na Hipon- this I think is one of their best-seller. It has the perfect combination of sour flavor and the shrimp's taste.

The birthday girl requested to order Grilled Spare Ribs. The meat is tender and the sauce seals in the goodness of these delicious rib.

Here's the Fried Chicken, no doubt it's also everybody's favorite. The chicken is well-cooked and flavorful.

Chop Seuy for a veggie lover like me! Yum yum! The crunch of the vegetables is just right.

Crispy Pata for the boys. Another best-seller of Lipa Grill.

There's chicken, pork, and shrimp... of course there's also fish-- Grilled Tilapia. Batangas is well-known for good quality Tilapia a good quality of taste as well.

For those on their strict diet, we also ordered Pancit Canton. Lipa Grill's recipe has many ingredients... veggies, meat... and seafood. Wow!

What a way to celebrate a birthday! I had a lot of fun. I'm excited for the next gathering. Again, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my dear couz Hazel. May God Bless her more. YOU KNOW I LOVE YOU... XOXO! (-_-)

FaMEALy Day!

In October 2007, Lucky Me!, the leading brand of noodles in the Philippines launched its advocacy which entitled: "KAINANG PAMILYA MAHALAGA" (KPM). It aims to remind the parents of their important role at the dinning table and encourage them to frequently eat dinner with their children to strengthen their communication.

As a Filipino, one of our good traits is our strong family ties. Family meal is an essential human rituals. This advocacy is a perfect way to connect with the whole family most especially during dinner, wherein the parents and their children can talk about different matters-- like how's their schooling and their work, how their days went off--things like that. It's also the best time to share problems and discuss critical matters that their children needs to know.

Open communication among the family members is associated with children's better achievement, fewer behavioral problems, lower risk of alcohol and drug abuse, engagement to pre-marital sex and suicide risk. Parents can guide their children and advice them very well.

In 2008, Lucky Me! launched the first National FaMEALy Day and it became a nationwide call to celebrate family dinning every 4th Monday of September. Last September 30, 2009, Presidential Proclamation 1895 was issued declaring the commemoration of the Filipino Family Day every 4th Monday of September. Coincidentally, National FaMEALy Day coincides with the first day of DSWD's National Family Week.

This year's National FaMEALy Day will be on September 26, 2011. So Foodaholic families! Mark your calendars now and pledge to eat dinner with the family. Eat... Pray... Love!
